The Fender Champ began as Fenders entry level amplifier - and would go on to be one of the most well regarded in their product line for over a half a century. The famous tweed amp became popular amongst studio players, impressed by how well these record, easily mistakable for a much larger amplifier. Blues rock enthusiasts have touted these as a secret weapon for decades, making them more and more collectable, certainly breaking them out of their original intended use for beginner players. This 5F1 example dates to 1961, and comes to us in good shape. The tweed is in good shape, with some wear throughout but is totally original with the exception of a small patch. The faceplate and grill cloth are both in fantastic shape with only slight wear on the chrome. The handle has been replaced, but the brackets remain original.

Internally it is like a time capsule, with nearly untouched electronics. An older replaced power cord is present with a charming wiring diagram written on the inside of the back panel. The speaker has been recently replaced with a Weber alnico speaker, a fantastic choice for this amp that gets the job done and sounds great. The tubeset is older and is a nice mix of Tung-Sol and GE.

The tube chart has a production stamp of KL, dating it to December of 1961. The codes on the Schummacher transformers date to late 1960.

Comes with a newer Fender amp cover.
