Gibson mandolins are second to none, with exceptional build quality and tone that is still being enjoyed over 100 years after production. This superb example dates to 1913 and comes to us in great condition both cosmetically and sonically. Hearing an example like this makes no wonder why players & collectors have enjoyed these instruments for the last century.

Constructed in this era with the standard 2 point F style body, the F-2 features a two piece birch back & sides, with a standard spruce top, this example finished in ebony black. The F-2's oval soundhole provides rich depth and exceptional volume - making it a great choice for nearly any setting. Built with the typical 14" scale, this era is known for its V profiled neck. The bound neck is nice and straight with its ebony fingerboard complete with MOP dot inlays. Stunning "The Gibson" inlay at the peg head with a clean scroll makes this a great example of this era.

All original. This example has the tall ebony bridge removable saddle (slotted into the bridge, some wear present in the black finish where it makes contact with the top). The rosette to the soundhole is triple bound with marquetry and the standard ivory binding is present on the top and the fingerboard. Original "The Gibson" stamped tailpiece. This example retains the original handle tuners, tortoise shell pickguard and patent mounting hardware. This mandolin is strong and in very good condition overall, with minimal, play wear present. Expected checking, and very few nicks, this example is very clean. The action is nice and playable, with clean frets, and a straight neck.

Comes with the original hardshell case
